Your Cast of Characters

Alright, well I'm going to be posting campaign diaries here over the next couple of days so in order to get you guys up to date quickly I'm going to give you a list of the major characters played by our group. The group consists of Me, Rachel, Chris, Eric, Lancey and sometimes Molly but we'll get to that later. We have two seperate campaigns, a basic fantasy themed one run by me in 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons and a horror Call of Cthulhu game run by Eric.

Dungeons and Dragons

Lancey's Character: Iados
Iados is a Tiefling Sorcerer born from a noble house. He has a bit of a gambling problem and one day got into so much debt that his family disowned him and cast him out until he can "regain his honor" meaning get the money back. So he decided to head out adventuring to do so. His constant failures and doing so in any legitimate endeavor lead him to question whether he really wants to regain his position in his family or not. While he has a general distaste for dwarves he holds a grudging respect for his party members and appreciates their good business sense.

Rachel's Chracter: Kurist
Kurist is a Dwarven Barbarian who wants to find true love. He recently thinks he has found his soul mate in the fine dwarven lady he rescued from certain doom at the "hands" of the demons the adventurers fought in their first adventure. She says she is a "working woman" but she still needs money. Lots and lots of money. Kurist is happy to keep sending her some while on his travels and one day will come home to his love and start a family. If you can't tell he is a bit naive.

Eric's Charater: Invader Zinc/Flint
Zinc/Flint is a Shardmind Paladin from parts unknown. A sentient pile of rock, it claims it is a scout from another planet sent to reconnoiter the planet and preach to its people about the shardmind's superiority before the eventual invasion. It is consumed it's appearance, wanting to make the best impression, and after noticing how better the female form is appreciated it carved it's body to conform and changed it's name from Flint to Zinc but technically it is still genderless due to being made of rock. Recently it has been troubled by the lack of communication with the rest of its species and is considering whether it would be possible to start the invasion on its own. (For simplicities sake I will be using she in regards to Zinc since that is how other people see her.)

Chris' Character: Skipper
Skipper is a Dwarven Ranger. He isn't very talkative, the only thing we know is that he spent some time in the same jail Iados was in although we do not yet what he was in there for. Also, he likes his horse.

Call of Cthulhu

Matthew's Character: Mr. Shelby
Shelby is the son of a very rich family from Rhode Island who has all but disassociated himself them. He spent almost two decades in Miskatonic University, managing to pay his own tuition one class at a time by working as the school's janitor. He eventually graduated with a degree in Latin and Archeology but continued to work as a janitor, enjoying the company of the fellow students. He thinks of Rachel's character as the son he never had and will do anything to protect him. To that end he is drowning himself with any information about the Cthulhu Mythos he can to make himself more knowledgeable against the monstrous threat and it is slowly driving him insane.

Rachel's Character: James DuBois
James is a newly minted doctor of chemestry from Miskatonic University. He is not a believer of the arcane by any means and it wasn't until he had cold hard proof that there wasn't any trickery or hallucinations involved before he believed the horrors he was seeing were true. Even now he still is a bit of a skeptic, believing in the Byakhee whom he saw and took photographs of but not the Space Vampires who he only saw for a brief second while under a lot of stress. Mr. Shelby was his mentor in the secrets of Miskatonic University and some say he has just a little too much adoration for the older gentlemen than what is appropriate. He has a wife and a child of whom he speaks little.

Lancey's Character: Dirk Finnegan. ON HAITUS
Finnegan owns Finnegan Detective Agency and is an incredible drunkard. No one is quite sure how he manages to sneak around dozens of bottles of scotch and whiskey during the prohibition but make it through unscathed he did. Rarely are his actions based off of any emotion other than greed or fear. He spared Snake McCreedy only so he could make him his unpaid "assistant." His recklessness has gotten him into incrediblly close scrapes and have gotten him almost killed several times. One close call made him seriously reconsider the detective/paranormal investigator profession and he decided to take a holiday for an unspecified time in a country that didn't outlaw his favorite drink.

Chris' Character: Snake/Al/Lizard McCreedy
A man of many names Snake is a hardened criminal who has seen the inside of many prisons. One day he was caught smuggling alcohol by a wandering Dirk Finnegan who blackmailed him into his service. His job was mostly to take care of the company since Dirk was usually too drunk to do any paperwork by himself. The honest work changed Snake, it showed him how useful he could really be under certain circumstances and how much easier it was to get away with accounting theft rather than bank robbery. He is now the joint owner of the company with Mr. Shelby since Finnegan's departure and he is determined to get to the bottom of the case and stop the evil aliens no matter what the cost. Even if he doesn't quite understand all of what's happening.

Well that is all I can write tonight. Tomorrow I will start with the first session of each campaign and we'll see what happens from there.

Book Ideas

So, for my first post I shall pull book ideas out of a hat! See, there's nothing inside the hat, nothing up my sleeves and... Viola! Three book ideas I've been mulling over for years without deciding which I should work on!

Idea for a Meta-Comedy Novel: In a world where the Gods created the earth for entertainment, a young boy who discovers he is to be the story's antagonist rebels against the system and unwittingly becomes the protagonist of this book instead.

Idea for a Meta-Comedy One Act: Two minor characters from a stage production stay out just a little too long during curtain call and are trapped on stage when the curtain closes behind them. Together they must find a way to ignore the audience, thereby preserving the fourth wall, while they wait for the director to notice and save them.

Sci-Fi Really Short Story: Aliens arrive, are exactly like us. Boredom ensues.

Have Blog

Welcome, the three people who might actually visit here! It's nice to finally see someone! It gets kind of lonely without nary a soul in site. Ha ha! Get it? In site? Hey, don't groan! If you've been here as long as I have you'd find puns humorous as well. So take a seat and lets talk for a while, if you don't like the subject just let me know, I'm a very eclectic person and have lots to talk about. Would you like something to drink? Chocolate milk perhaps?

Anyways, this is just another random rambling blog about anything under the sun that I like to talk about. Take it or leave it.
